David Hoy

David Hoy was a artist who worked on the drawing board for advertising agencies in the days when they employed real artists and illustrators before they were swept into oblivion by digital imaging and paint box programs. He could sketch any car in perfect perspective in a lovely free pen and ink style with a colour wash. With Andy Vevers, he co-founded the North East Hot Road Association in 1968, the NHRA went on to run a series of successful 1/8 mile drag races at Felton in Northumberland for many years after wards.
David did most of the illustrating for the first few years of Claremont Corvette and produced these five cartoons for our Newsletter. He sadly died in 1989 and is much missed by his family and our group of American car and hot road fans
