Tom’s 1964

1964 Corvette Tom’s own convertible
Tom bought this 1964 250hp Air Conditioned Corvette convertible in August 2002. It had been stood in a London lock up garage for 7 years and was bought as was with flat tyres, not running, and with an obviously hastily repaired and misshapen front end. The grille and bonnet were from a 1966 427, the wheels from a 1969. We got the car running after two days of frantic work and after three more days of replacing pipes, hoses, bearings, seals and brake cylinders, we got the car to pass the MoT test. The car has its original 250hp 327 which runs well, if a bit smoky, and was once air conditioned. Tom took the car to the NCRS Flight 2002 at Tenterden and, thanks to an early morning 105 mile cruise through Kent which earned some mileage points, it scored a Third Flight for its originality. Now that we know what is needed to do a proper restoration, the car has gone to Mech Spray of Rochester, Kent to have the incorrect red paint removed, the front end repaired properly, and a new paint job in the correct Ermine White. The body is very good at the rear where all the original seams can be seen. The car had 5 previous paint jobs, including 2 red, 1 blue and 1 green! Tom says this car is not for sale, he loves low horsepower 327 mid-years and this one is his favourite colour too, the classic Corvette white with red interior
